iLEAD Mentorship Program

If you’ve been following my work for a while, you know I love sharing my wisdom with the world in several different ways, from blogposts, to books, to consultations, to speaking events, to online courses, and more. That is why I am happy to announce my involvement in the iLEAD program at the University of Newcastle.

The iLEAD program connects student mentees looking to explore their leadership capabilities with their ideal mentors. I have been selected as a mentor by two students who are interested in my mentorship because I am the head of an entrepreneurial business focusing on upcoming IT products. I’m really looking forward to guiding these students towards unlocking their fullest potential.

Over the next few months, I will:

  • Ask my mentees thoughtful questions about their goals, aspirations, and methods.
  • Provide guidence and contructive feedback on their approach to other people in professional situations.
  • Cultivate a positive culture of mentoring between industry and the University of Queensland.
  • Nudge my mentees further towards independence.

If you would like to learn more about the iLEAD program, click this link. I hope I can provide my mentees with the guidance I wish I had at their age.

Guest on ‘Rooted in Reliability’ Podcast – Episode 141

I was fortunate enough to be a guest a second time on the ‘Rooted in Reliability’ podcast hosted by James Kovacevic. We spoke about Habits 1 and 2; identifying and understanding the problems you encounter at your plant.

‘Rooted in Reliability: The Plant Performance Podcast’ is a weekly podcast focusing on how maintenance staff and reliability engineers can learn from common challenges within the industry. It is available on iTunes and the Accendo Reliability website.

In this episode of the podcast we covered:

  • The 5 habits of extraordinary reliability engineers.
  • What is Habit 1 and why is it so important?
  • How can you implement Habit 1 into your daily work schedule?

The ultimate goal of the podcast is to teach you to take the time to dissect and understand a problem to craft an effective solution, as opposed to doing unplanned maintenance down the road because you either ignored the issue or applied the wrong solution.

You can listen to ‘Episode 141 – Continuously Identifying Problems w/ Peter Horsburgh’ on iTunes or the Accendo Reliability Website here.

Guest on ‘Rooted in Reliability’ Podcast – Episode 132

I was lucky enough to be a guest on the ‘Rooted in Reliability’ podcast hosted by James Kovacevic. We discussed the 5 Habits and what it means to be a reliability engineer.

‘Rooted in Reliability: The Plant Performance Podcast’ is a weekly podcast focusing on how maintenance staff and reliability engineers can learn from common challenges within the industry. It is available on iTunes and the Accendo Reliability website.

In this episode of the podcast we covered:

  • What is a reliability engineer exactly and what do they do?
  • The 5 habits of extraordinary reliability engineers.
  • Effectively identifying consequences (operational, non-operational, environmental, and safety).
  • The best practice for reliability engineers to find the most effective resolution to any problem.

We hope that this podcast will teach you to recognize that in a plant constantly suffering from failures, every problem is worth fixing, and they can only be fully resolved by implementing the 5 Habits into your daily work routine and your workplace.
